DOOM 3: RESURRECTION OF EVIL GUIDE Version 1.5
>>Up...Part2<<

=====================
*** 04: Weapons [4WEA] ***
=====================

--------------
Fists
--------------
You start with your trusty fists, but unfortunately they won't help you much.
They are weak, and there are quite alot of ranged monsters in the game. The
only time the fists is good, is when you get the Berserk Powerup for the
Artifact. The damage is then four doubled, and it can be used to easily kill
weaker enemies like Zombies and Imps.

--------------
Flashlight
--------------
You can use your flashlight to hit monsters, but this is only really useful
against Zombies, and even that should be a last resort. However, it will
instantly kill Forgotten ones if they are very close.

--------------
Pistol
--------------
Actually, the pistol is quite good. It might not be powerful, but its very
precise, and its easy to prickshot mobs from far away with it. You can pick off
alot of health from approaching monsters, and take out both Zombies, Forgotten,
Imps, Vulgars, Trites and other weaker monsters.

--------------
Shotgun
--------------
This single barrel shotgun works great on close range to one shot kill weaker
and normal monsters like Imps and Zombies, and it can also do quite good
damage to heavier monsters if you can get close enough.

--------------
Double Barrel Shotgun
--------------
This Beauty of a gun is a monster of a machine. It can easily take down almost
any monster in the game with one close up shot. Revenants fall like leaves
before it, and its also great to use against sudden attacks like Wraiths,
Vulgars, Pinkys and Cacodemons. In fact, it's very effective against all the
monsters, and will be your best friend from the moment you get it. With the
Berserk Powerup, it can kill every single monster apart from bosses with one
close up shot, even Bruisers, Hellknights and Mancubus.

--------------
Machine Gun
--------------
Sounds weak, but its quite practical against long distance mobs, especially
Z-Sec Zombies where headshots are more practical and other mobile targets like
Cacodemons and Forgotten.

--------------
Chain Gun
--------------
Starts slow, but is very powerful once it has spun up. it chews through most
enemies like butter, but it's easy to waste ammo and it's often more a risk
than worth it to wait for it to spin up while the monsters are approaching.
Still, when it starts pouring those bullets, nothing survives long.

--------------
Grenades
--------------
Very underrated. Against packs of mobs, the grenades work magic. Toss one into
a group of Zombies, and watch the whole bunch blow up. That's many bullets
saved, with only one grenade uesd. It can also be used to instant kill weaker
enemies like Imps, Z-Secs and Vulgars by throwing the grenade right at them,
since it will explode on impact with a monster. Highly underrated, very good
if you use them correctly.

--------------
Rocket Launcher
--------------
Packing alot of punch, this mobile Rocket Launcher cuts through every single
weak and normal monster like they were paper dolls. It's also a very nice
countermeasure to the heavy artillery mobs like the Hellknight and the Bruiser.
Way too slow and clumsy to deal with fast moving targets, so stick with the
slow and big ones.

--------------
Plasma Rifle
--------------
Just like the original Doom, this is a powerful weapon that handles both weak
and strong enemies without a sweat. Most weak enemies can be killed by a
controlled burst, while bigger enemies can be taken down with longer periods
of spamming plasma. Very effective for taking out weak enemies quickly, and
perfect for taking out the worst monsters like the Cherubs on a distance.

--------------
BFG
--------------
This Doomsday machine instantly kills most normal mobs, and does insane damage
to harder mobs. Charge it up to provide a even deadlier blast, but don't
charge it too long or it will explode, taking you with it. For a tricky
situation, or when you are surrouned by mobs and just don't feel like wasting
bullets, one quick charge with the BFG should pretty much clear the whole room.

--------------
The Artifact
--------------
Not really a weapon, but still accessed and used as one. This mysterious
Artifact can be powered up to grant the user three special powers:

-Slow Down Time
-Berserk Damage
-Invulnerability

It has three charges, each lasting about 15 seconds. When the three charges
are out, it must be recharged by feeding it human souls, easily accessible
almost everywhere. Don't feel too guilty, it's all for a good cause.

*** 06: Monsters [6MON] ***
*******************************************************************************

-------------------------
Zombie
-------------------------

Description:
The Normal, slow walking Zombie is far more rare in Resurrection of Evil
than in the original Doom 3. However, he still shows up sometimes, but often
he ends up being more of a comic relief, as the grabber can be used to
humiliate him by throwing closets and other fun objects at him til he dies.
Very little threat, even when outnumbered a quick blast with the
Double Barreled Shotgun will clear a whole group of them.

Recommended Weapons:
Grabber with Suitable Objects, Pistol, Shotgun

Tactics:
Have Fun with these guys, if you want to save ammo there's often
objects around the place which you can throw at them, but otherwise you can
just aim for their heads(The ones that got any) with the pistol and prickshot
them til they fall. If they get too close, use the Shotgun for an instant kill
that will take out a whole group of them.

-------------------------
Skinny Zombie
-------------------------

Description:
Naked, ugly and more lethal versions of the Zombies, these are not to be
taken too lightly. They can take more punishment than the normal zombie.

Recommended Weapons:
Machinegun, Chaingun, Shotgun

Tactics:
Treat them like any other Melee Monster. Kill them before they reach you.
Use Long Distance Precision weapons to take them down.

-------------------------
Burning Zombie
-------------------------

Description:
These angry Zombies are on fire! Bad news for you though, because it makes them
much faster and tougher than the normal ones.

Recommended Weapons:
Machinegun, Chaingun, Shotgun

Tactics:
These guys must be stopped before they reach you, so use a Long Distance weapon
to take them out before they get close. If they do, it's gonna get hot around
your ears.

-------------------------
Z-Sec Zombie
-------------------------

Description:
The SWAT Version of the Zombie, these Ex-Marines have much of their old sense
of Weapons and Tactics, and can become quite dangerous on higher difficulty.
They are skilled in using the Pistol, Machinegun and the Shotgun, and these
things really hurt, so take them out quickly.

Recommended Weapons:
Chaingun, Shotgun, Grenades, Plasma Rifle

Tactics:
Take cover when they are shooting, wait til they stop to reload,
and take them out as fast as possible. For Z-Sec's hiding behind objects,
you can try to throw a grenade, hoping for the best. Many times this will
flush out the Z-Sec from his hiding place causing him to reveal himself
and making him a target. If you can get close, one Shotgun blast is enough.

-------------------------
Bio Hazard Zombie
-------------------------

Description:
Mainly found in the Sewer Tunnels, these Zombies are slow moving and easy to
take out. They drop Oxygen Tanks when you kill them, which you need to survive
down there.

Recommended Weapons:
Chaingun, Shotgun

Tactics:
Easy kill, but don't waste too much time as the Oxygen is slowly
running out, that's why you should use a little more powerful weapon to kill
them fast.

-------------------------
Imp
-------------------------

Description:
The Grayish, Bug Eyed Agile Imps are less common in Resurrection of Evil than
they were in Doom 3, but they are still here. You'll recognize them by their
high pitched screams and the Orange Fireballs.

Recommended Weapons:
Grabber, Shotgun

Tactics:
The best way to deal with the Imps is using the grabber to reflect their
fireballs back at them. This will instantly kill them, and it also saves
alot of Ammo.

-------------------------
Vulgar
-------------------------

Description:
Grayish and just as agile as the Imps, these freakish looking beasts usually
spawns with a Blue Light, and they will quickly hurl Blue Fireballs at you.
If they get too close, they'll jump at you and attack you with their claws.

Recommended Weapons:
Grabber, Shotgun

Tactics:
Just like their Imp Brothers, the best way to deal with the Vulgar is using
the Grabber to Reflect their Blue Fireballs back at them, which will instantly
kill them. If they get close, quickly take them out with a shotgun blast.

-------------------------
Forgotten One
-------------------------

Description:
This is the new version of the Lost Soul. Instead of the human face, it's now
a burning skull, just like the original version.

Recommended Weapons:
Grabber, Pistol, Machine Gun

Tactics:
If there's only one of them around, wait for him to rush you and grab and
release him. It will instant kill him. If there's more, you might want to take
them out by precision shooting with the pistol, as only two shots are needed.

-------------------------
Spiders
-------------------------

Description:
The creepy looking white spider is back, but they are not half as many as
they were in Doom 3. They often pop up from corners or lower themself from
the ceiling, surprising you when you least expect it.

Recommended Weapons:
Grabber, Pistol

Tactics:
Very easy to kill. One tap with the Grabber will kill them, or else a few
pistol shots will do the trick. They are small so you'll need the precision.

-------------------------
Wraith
-------------------------

Description:
These half-imps are best recognized by their constant teleportation and their
claws. When they are hunting you, they teleport to your location, and try to
slash you.

Recommended Weapons:
Shotgun

Tactics:
The easiest and best way to take care of these monsters is using their
teleportation to your advantage. When you see them appear, run backwards
til you see them teleport and vanish, and then run towards the spot they
last disappeared. You'll see they attempt to teleport and become visible
again, but the second they are using to teleport back they are vulnerable,
so kill them with one single shotgun blast. Easy and Painless, but might
take some practice.

-------------------------
Pinky
-------------------------

Description:
Half Demon, Half Machine, this hulking beast has both strength and speed,
and is quite frightening as it charges towards you. Do not get close to him
unless you can put the barrel of your gun between his eyes and pull the
trigger fast enough.

Recommended Weapons:
Double Barreled Shotgun, Rocket Launcher, Plasma Rifle

Tactics:
He is fast and he is strong. If he gets you up in a corner, it will be very
hard to kill him, so you should focus on taking him out before he reaches you.
If you got room, then you can try to run up to his face as he charges towards
you and blow him up with the Double Barreled. This should do the trick. But if
you can't do it, take out your Rocket Launcher or Plasma Rifle to kill him
before he reaches you.

-------------------------
Cherub
-------------------------

Description:
One of the most dreaded monsters in Doom 3, this half Baby, half Bug thing
is both creepy and incredibly nasty. It is surprisingly fast, and can jump
at you from a long distance, shaking your view making it even harder to kill
the creep.

Recommended Weapons:
Preferably Precise Long Distance Weapons like the Machine Gun/Plasma Rifle.

Tactics:
Don't let it get get close, or you will get a problem. As soon as you see
these, focus on them. They cause far more trouble than many other monsters,
so killing them should be the first priority. Steady Aiming on a long distance
is the best way to go.

-------------------------
Commando Zombie
-------------------------

Description:
The top ranked Zombie Soldiers are powerful and lethal. There are two types,
The Chaingun version and the most infamous one with the tentacle arm.

Recommended Weapons:
Plasma Rifle, Double Barreled Shotgun

Tactics:
Take the Tentacle Zombie out before he even gets remotely close, or else
things will become nasty. Luckily there's not many of them in the
expansion, but be prepared for them. As long as you keep your distance
and focus your Plasma Rifle on him(If you have it), you will win. If he
comes close, bite the bullet and run straight up to his face and give him
a taste of the Double Barreled Shotgun.

The Chaingun is very nasty too. The trick is to have him running, since he
cannot do much damage then. Attract his attention, quickly hide behind a door
and wait for him. As soon as he opens the door, use the Double Barreled to
kill him before he can start shooting.

-------------------------
Cacodemon
-------------------------

Description:
Funny looking flying Meatballs who likes to fire energy balls at you. They
do not like tight spaces, so you'll mostly find these in open, big rooms.

Recommended Weapons:
Machine Gun, Chaingun, Plasma Rifle

Tactics:
Despite their mobility, they are easier to kill than they seem. They often
tend to fly around like drunk maniacs and sometimes charge at you, but
just dodge their Energy Balls and nail them with rapid fire weapons. Since
they move around a lot, slower weapons is not recommended, as you will most
likely miss more. All in all, not a big threat and compared to many of the
other monsters, these are usually a welcome sight(For monsters to be).

-------------------------
Revenant
-------------------------

Description:
A Skeleton with two shouldermounted Rocket Launchers and a knack for Close
Combat fighting, these maniacs will start appearing a little too often
during the end of the game.

Recommended Weapons:
Double Barreled Shotun, Plasma Rifle, Grenades, Rocket Launcher

Tactics:
There are several ways to fight these guys. If you feel lucky and want to
end them quickly, run up to their face and ignore one or two rockets that
might hit you, and take them out with one shot from the Double Barrel.
If you are on a visible distance with no good places to hide, the Plasma
Rifle is the best choice, as it can be used to both take out the Rockets
and to kill the Revenant quickly. If you don't have much space to fight
them, but corners and corridors to hide, you can use grenades. Lure the
Revenant towards you, quickly hide behind a corner and start throwing some
grenades into the place where the Revenant is coming. A Narrow hallway
means that the chance for a direct hit with the grenade is big, and the
risk of getting hurt is low.

-------------------------
Arch Vile
-------------------------

Description:
Thank god these freaks are far less common now, but you will still meet
them in the Expansion. They are less dangerous now, they cannot revive
monsters anymore, but they can summon lesser ones. It's a fair trade,
no longer can that Hellknight you just killed just pop back up along
with the Arch Vile.

Recommended Weapons:
All the strongest weapons you have

Tactics:
The only real tactics here is: "Kill it before it kills you". Not only
can it summon monsters, but it does also have a really nasty flame attack that
can be very hard to avoid. If there are several mobs around, go for the
Arch Vile first. No Exception. Leaving him alive long will make things worse
by the minute, and the battlefield will also be turned into a burning Inferno.
So no, pull out your strongest weapons and kill him immediately. The Double
Barreled Shotgun, Plasma Rifle, Rocket Launcher and BFG should all be
considered in a fight against him, if you want to get out with decent health.

-------------------------
Mancubus
-------------------------

Description:
A Fat, Pale and seriously ugly Demon, carrying two Rocket Launchers instead
of Arms. Takes a lot of punishment and delivers just as much too.

Recommended Weapons:
Plasma Rifle, Rocket Launcher

Tactics:
Unless you activates Artifact(Any Power will do), keep your distance to
him. His Rockets are fast and do alot of damage, so the best way to deal
with him is to use Shoot and Hide. Strafe into a corner out of his sight
and Rockets, then strafe back in and fire a few Rockets back or unload some
Plasma on him. After a while he will go down.

-------------------------
Bruiser
-------------------------

Description:
Looking like a hybrid between the Mancubus and the Hellknight, this monster
is huge, and he has a computer monitor for a mouth. He is easily recognized
because of his size.

Recommended Weapons:
Double Barreled Shotgun

Tactics:
There's simply only one tactics against him, to activate the Artifact and
go straight up into his face and kill him with the Double Barrel. You will
not face him before you have gained the Invulnerability Power, so you face
no risk doing so. Taking him head on without the Artifact on anything higher
than Recruit is suicide.

-------------------------
Hell Knight
-------------------------

Description:
The Biggest and Meanest looking of the normal monsters, The Hell Knight
could easily pass as a Boss by the sheer look of him. He fires bluegreen
fireballs at you which hurt quite alot and he hit insanely hard if he gets
too close.

Recommended Weapons:
Grabber, Plasma Rifle, Rocket Launcher, Double Barreled Shotgun

Tactics:
There are several good ways to defeat him. My Personal Favorite is using
the Grabber to reflect his fireballs. It can take from 3 to 5 hits,
depending on how well you hit him back. Charging the Fireballs and hitting
him straight on should take him down in three, otherwise 4-5.
Other than that, you could use Long Distance Artillery like the Plasma
and the Rocket Launcher. As long as he is on a distance he is no problem.
The Third way is to activate the Artifact after getting Berserk, and then
take him out with one shot from the Double Barreled.

-------------------------
BOSS: THE FIRST HUNTER
-------------------------

He looks much tougher than he is. I really hope you are getting used to
grabbing, aiming and shooting with the Grabber, because the only way to kill
this guy, is by grabbing the green plasmaballs that are shot out by the two
cannons on each side of the room, and firing at the Hunter. It will take
approx. four hits to kill him, and you'll notice he is hit when he screams.
Hang in there, and learn his teleportation pattern so that you can avoid him.
As a reward for defeating him, your artifact is now upgraded with the first
ability, Slowing Down Time. This will let you move as quickly as normally, but
everything else around you will slow down really much.

-------------------------
BOSS: THE SECOND HUNTER
-------------------------

The Second Hunter is a whole different game than the first one. He is fast and
hits really hard. To kill him, you'll need to attack the Orange Glowing Ball in
his Chest. Use the Slow Down Time Ability to make him as agile as a Turtle, and
unload your Chaingun into the ball. After some damage he will change and start
throwing fireballs at you. Dodge them and he will change back to hunting you,
so just repeat the procedure until he is dead. Easier said than done though,
he is hard until you can get the timings right.

-------------------------
BOSS: THE THIRD HUNTER
-------------------------

To defeat the third Hunter, you should give him a taste of his own medicine.
Start out by equipping your grabber, and reflect the electric balls he throws
at you back at him. Stand on one of the elevated parts of the floor, don't
stand on the floor crates, since the Hunter will sometimes send a wave of
electricity through the floor. It really hurts, but you can avoid it totally by
standing on the parts with pillars. Now, after you have reflected his electric
balls a couple of time, he will head into the center and really charge himself
up. This is your cue. Quickly equip the Artifact, activate a charge and equip
the Double Barrel. Head to one of the Pillars with a Green Computer Screen and
click on it to open up the core of the pillar. With a Direct Hit from the
Double Barrel and under the influence of Berserk, you should be able to destroy
the Core in one hit, Max two. The Hunter will still continue to fire at you so
be on your guard. When the Pillar is destroyed, the Hunter will return to
his normal mode, so repeat the procedure by reflecting the Electric Balls and
then destroy another core. When you have destroyed the three cores, he will
return to normal, so just reflect his Electric Balls a few more times and he
will finally die, granting you the the final upgrade for the Artifact,
Invulnerability.

There are a lot of bodies to recharge your artifact under the floor, step on
a floor plate on one of the sides to be taken down. There are also health and
bodies there, so grab what you need but crouch while you are down there to
avoid being damaged(Contributed by chipz88)

-------------------------
FINAL BOSS: THE MALEDICT
-------------------------

This guy is hard. After the cutscene, immediately dodge his huge flame attack.
Then, activate your Artifact, because you will need it. Fighting this battle
without it is near, if not impossible. Luckily, The Maledict is vulnerable to
your conventional weapons, so the grabber is not needed. Equip the BFG, and
when you see Betruger in your sight, charge and fire the BFG repeatedly.
After a while, he will change attack pattern, and start raining firestones on
you. Hopefully you have some Artifact Charges left, because now is your chance.
Activate a charge, and head to his throne where he is now standing still.
Unload all your BFG cells into him until he starts flying again. Repeat the
procedure and try to swap to your Rocket Launcher after a while. When you have
hurt him enough and you swap to your Rocket Launcher, a Cutscene will play..

Here comes the complete e-mail transcripts from all the PDA's in the game, in
case you want to deepen yourself into the story while not playing the game.
They are absolutely a recommended read if you want to learn more about the
story of the game. Some of these PDA's are actually quite touching since they
show the life behind the dead bodies, the soldiers writing home to their
family but getting their mails bounced as the computer systems going haywire.

I understand that we are all under tremendous stress. While I'm |
sure we would all prefer a swift ticket home, the tast at hand is |
too important for us to give up on. |
|
|
The work that you and Dr. Kharkov have been undertaking is of |
extreme importance. Once this is all over with, you will be made |
fully aware of the impact your research has provided. |
|
|
Unfortunately, I need all available personnel to remain at the |
Erebus complex. Don't worry, we'll be going home, soon. |

Dr. McNeil, |
I appreciate the opportunity you've given me to work with you and |
our colleagues. |
|
|
However, I feel I would be better suited for a different |
environment. While the work here at Erebus Research is thoroughly |
intriguing, I can't help but feel.. isolated, detached. |
|
|
I believe my skills would shine within a more normal office |
environment, perhaps back on Earth. |
|
|
Honestly.. I'm going crazy here. |
|
|
Thanks for your consideration, |

*** 09: Mini-Games [9MIN] ***
*******************************************************************************

Doom 3 had the Super Turkey Puncher, which was a really simple Mini-Game. In
Resurrection of Evil however, the Mini-Games have been updated! You can now
find three of them around the game, and each one is quite different. Just walk
up to a Arcade Machine that says the name of the game, insert credits and you
can then play.

Sarge's Big Game Hunt
Location: Erebus Labs, Sarge's Office
Information: The game is simple, but fun for a couple of minutes. You play as
Sarge, equipped with a weapon. Your purpose is to shoot down a bear hanging in
ballons. The bear goes up and down, and you will have to adjust the height of
the aim, and the strength of the shot. Then, it's firing time! Hit Fire and the
brave Sarge will attempt to shoot down the poor bear. You only have a limited
time to hit it, and you might have to readjust your aim and strength in order
to hit the bear. After five bears, the level increases, but the bear starts to
go up and down faster and faster. As far as I know, there are no limits, and it
can literally be played forever. It's fun for a little while though.

Hellanoid
Location: Erebus Control, Lounge
Information: This is the classic Breakout game! The goal here is to destroy
all the blocks by bouncing a ball between your moving pad and the blocks, while
racking up points and avoiding loosing the ball. There's only a few levels
that repeats themselves over and over, but its still kinda addictive.
You'll get Extraballs, and a powerup that gives you three balls instead of one,
making it much faster to complete the level.

Martian Buddy-Blaster
Location: Phobos Labs 2, Commons
Information: The goal of this game is to save the Martian Buddies that comes
flying towards you, while blasting the Meteor Stones and avoid hitting the
Buddies. You need to save an increasingly amount of Buddies for each level.
It's kinda fun to see how far you can go, but it isn't as fun as Hellanoid.

*******************************************************************************
*** 10: Additional Info [10AD] ***
*******************************************************************************
------------
Hints
------------

-Know your Enemy. Learn how to deal with each enemy, learn what weapons works
best, how the monsters attack, speed and range.

-Save Ammo in the earlier parts of the game by using the Grabber to kill weaker
enemies like Zombies, Vulgars, Imps and Forgotten Ones. All of these can
be killed quite easily with the grabber. The Zombies require something to throw
at them, but most of the time you can find something.

-Save often. No matter what others tell you, replaying the last fifteen
minutes, especially if they are frustrating or hard, is usually not fun.
So, save your game before and after hard parts, or especially after you have
refilled your health and ammo. You should not save your game when you have
very little health left, as it might not be possible to continue without
getting hurt in some way.

-If you are running low on Ammo or Health, then backtrack to an earlier part
of the level where you found a Health Station or Ammo you didn't need at the
moment.

-Also, if you reach an area with ammo, and you can't pick it up because you
are full, then try to use the weapon with that ammo the next few areas, and
then head back to grab the Ammo you passed. That way you have never really
lost any ammo.

-The Single Barrel Shotgun still works great against weaker mobs, so consider
using that instead of the Double Barrel to save a shell.
